While cleaning out our pantry this morning, I found a half-empty bag of Oreos. And having a craving for chocolate, I pulled this pie together from a few different recipes with a decidedly decadent result. Although it might be easier to buy a pre-made graham cracker crust, I highly recommend making your own. Grab a ziploc bag, your favorite cookies, and pound, pound away. You will feel better and your pie will taste better, I promise. And that philosophy holds true for every part of this recipe. Yes, you could go out and buy a carton of Cool-Whip and a box of Jello pudding mix, but making this pie from scratch will be far more satisfying to your spirit and to your stomach. So take an extra half-hour and impress your friends and family. Steer clear from those aisles and aisles of processed food and do things the way our grandparents did. (And then go turn on the Grammy's)

24 Oreo cookies
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1. Place Oreo cookies in a ziplic bag. Smash. (A rolling pin or wood mallet works great)
2. Keep on smashing until you've created a crumbly mush.
3. In a small bowl, pour melted butter over Oreo crumbs. Using your hands, press the Oreo mixture into a 9 inch pie pan, making an even surface.
4. Bake in a 350 degree oven for ten minutes until crust has hardened.
Chocolate Pudding Pie
2 cups milk (I used 2 percent)
3/4 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
4 TBSP cocoa powder
5 TBSP flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 TBSP butter
2 tsp vanilla extract
Oreo Pie Crust
1. In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except vanilla. Whisk together slightly.
2. Turn heat to medium, and whisk mixture constantly until thickened (about 5 to 10 minutes) Mixture should almost reach a boil, but continue to heat and stir until pudding reaches desired consistency.
3. Turn heat off and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow to cool for 5 to ten minutes before pouring into pie shell. Chill for an hour or longer.

1 cup heavy whipping cream
3 TBSP sugar
2 tsp vanilla
1. Combine ingredients in a bowl and using a mixture with a whisk attachment, beat until soft peaks form.
2. Using a spatula, spread your whipped cream over your chocolate pie (This should be done just before you serve your pie.
