Lindsay and I met when I was 13 years old, shy and stick-thin. She encouraged me to tag along with her more established group of friends and over the course of 7th grade, Lindsay and I developed into two girls with an unbreakable bond.
Today, Lindsay will be getting married to someone who loves her deeply. They are a joy to watch together, and I couldn't be more excited for their special day. We will stand beside Lindsay and Daniel in the cool Colorado sun and then celebrate with dancing and dining, laughter and small outpourings of love.
But on Friday, I was able to honor Lindsay in the company of the many women who are a part of her life. I threw a bridal shower at my parent's beautiful home, complete with over 100 mini cupcakes, hand iced cookies, lemon bars, homemade breadsticks, garlic roasted hummus, chicken pasta salad, and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Is she not stunning? When she walked in the door, I had to keep myself from tearing up. She simply glowed...a woman in love is a beautiful treasure.
A spread fit for a queen! You might recognize those cheddar breadsticks; they went perfectly with our roasted garlic hummus and chicken pasta salad.
Chocolate cupcakes with salted caramel buttercream and vanilla cupcakes with strawberry buttercream....yes, we were in cupcake heaven! I will be posting the recipes for these delicious, bite-sized treats in the next few days. In the meanwhile, keep drooling!
And what bridal shower is complete without heart shaped sugar cookies? This sour cream cookie recipe is one of my all-time favorites; you can find the recipe by browsing through my cookie collection on the left. We shared a batch of these at my own bridal shower last April, and I couldn't imagine throwing a party without them.
So to Lindsay (and sweet Daniel!) I wish you happiness, laughter and years of growth and love. You are both precious to me, and I'm honored to celebrate your special day.
