But then the evening got really good...our dear friend Abby came over with one of the most beautiful and delectable cheesecakes I have ever tasted. No exaggeration, it was simply divine. Not only did we get to share a great bottle of Chardonnay, but we all dove into creamy slices of pumpkin cheesecake topped with a Bourbon spiked whipped cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Yes, Abby brought over Bourbon and whipped fresh cream for us in our tiny new kitchen, and I was in dessert heaven.
We sat around on our living room floor, savoring each bite of creamy goodness, and we shared stories from our childhoods, from our early college days, and from our lives happening in these moments. Needless to say, the glasses of Chardonnay and the spiked whipped cream added another layer of enjoyment to our evening.
Abby, Ryan and I had such a delightful time that we decided to host a weekly dessert party. Our week started off so well that we felt as if this was a tradition that should continue. Next week, I plan to make a dessert and I would love your suggestions or ideas. Please feel free to leave me a comment or link me to your blog if you have a dessert that is just needing to be made. Unfortunately, I don't have the recipe for Abby's pumpkin cheesecake (she promised to give me a cheesecake tutorial sometime in the next few weeks), but I hope you still enjoy the pictures and the short anecdote about our Monday evening. Abby is an amazing poet, and you should check out her blog when you can. I've also included a few pictures of our new place. If you live in Colorado, please come and visit!
